We have brought the Manchester weather with us! Rainstorms have delayed the construction of my sundial, but this has given me chance to read more of my book - A Sideways Look At Time.

I found a suitable rock while on a walk along with some snail shells to use as markers. I made the sundial to try and understand time a bit more and see physically the effect of it (the shadows it creates and changes).

My book raised an interesting point - that the more accurately you can measure time the more insignificant the thousandth of a second actually becomes. I decided to record every 2 hour mark in an attempt to slow things down.

I think because we had left the busy urban landscape of Manchester to go to a very rural, and natural, backdrop, the pace of life has slowed dramatically and I wanted to portray this in my sculpture.
